FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers. You can always call us with any questions!

It’s normal to feel a bit anxious about trying something new and different. Just remember that you are in full control of your experience. The lid does not latch or lock in any way so you can get out of the tank for any reason at any time. You also have control over the light from inside the tank and there is also a “call button” in case you need any assistance. Any anxiety usually passes fairly quickly as the tanks are quite inviting and extremely comfortable.

It doesn’t matter what size you are you will float effortlessly because of the density of the water due to the 1200 lbs of epsom salt dissolved into the water. It’s actually quite difficult to get under the water line! The water is only a foot deep and once you lay back you pop right up to the surface. It’s quite a wonderful and relaxing feeling to be weightless!

We take the hygiene of the tanks and the rooms very seriously. There are several steps we take to keep everything clean for each customer. First everyone is required to shower before entering the float pod. Secondly, the water inside the tank is saturated with a very high level of salt which contributes to its cleanliness which makes it uninhabitable for microbial lifeforms. Thirdly, the water is put through a filtration process after each use and continually throughout the day. The filter is a one micron filter which is a hundred times smaller than a human hair! The tanks and rooms are also wiped down and cleaned after every customer. We also dose the water with a hydrogen peroxide solution on top of everything else. If you would like more information on this we recommend going to our “video” page and watch the presentation by Dr. Roy Vore, who is an expert in recreational water illness, in which he discusses the science behind why you don’t need to worry about germs in the water!

Wearing a swimsuit is completely optional. Since you have to shower before you get into the tank you can get in straight from the shower if you like. Each room is completely private and not wearing a swimsuit is actually recommended. However if you feel more comfortable wearing one we just ask that it has been recently washed and cleaned. You’ll also want to bring a bag to put your swimsuit in afterwards.

We provide everything you will need such as soap, shampoo, towels, earplugs, etc. Each room has a full shower and bathroom area in it along with a vanity mirror and hair dryer. You’re more than welcome to bring your own but we’ve got you covered!

Since the float tank is designed to elicit a relaxation response from the body you will probably slip in and out of a light sleep zone. This is perfectly fine and happens quite often. Improved sleep quality for a couple days after a float is also common and just one of the awesome benefits of floating.

Just like exercise or meditation the more you float the more benefit you’ll get out of it. We have clients that float weekly or monthly, but coming in on some kind of regular schedule will yield the best and deepest results. We recommend floating three times within a month period and you’ll know how long the benefits will last (up to a week for some!) and how often you’ll want to float. We also have a membership program you can ask us about!

We try and stay as flexible as possible with our clients but we do ask that you contact us as soon as possible if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment. If we are not contacted we cannot provide a refund and will require payment up front in order to re-book. *All FLoat Sessions Expire One Year After Purchase*

It’s perfectly safe to float during pregnancy. The further along you are in your pregnancy the more relief you’ll get from the added weight on your body. You can also connect with your baby in a new way as you’ll be in a similar environment! You can find more info on floating while pregnant on our video page!

Yes, please let us know about any health conditions you may have so we can ascertain if you need to consult with a doctor before you float. It’s rare that a person is unable to float but the precaution is always the smart thing to do.  You will also need to be able to get up from a lying position and in/out of the tank on your own. If you need assistance you will need to a have a family member or carer come with you.

There’s really not anything out of the ordinary you need to do before a float but there are a couple things worth mentioning. Avoiding any caffeine products the day of your session would be advisable. You also don’t want to be hungry coming into your float but we wouldn’t recommend eating a big heavy meal beforehand either. Do not shave the day of your session.
